Getting together and prancing around town might not be the most viable party plan in these socially-distanced times, but Cartier believes there’s more than one way to have a good time this Christmas. To show us what it has in mind, the maison rounded up 12 celebrity friends in its festive short film Love Is All, which celebrates family in all its forms.
This is the first time that Cartier has brought such an incredible cast together, where each member is different in every way. Yet all are connected to the maison and it’s appreciation of cultural and artistic diversity.
Featuring Ella Balinska, Mariacarla Boscono, Monica Bellucci, Khatia Buniatishvili, Lily Collins, Golshifteh Farahani, Mélanie Laurent, Troye Sivan, Willow Smith, Annabelle Wallis, Jackson Wang, and Maisie Williams, Love Is All expresses the perfect festive message we all need today.
“It’s a part of the Cartier philosophy to believe that we are stronger and more authentic together, and that’s why we have gathered this inspiring community of artists who embrace life with a sense of celebration. Together, they seem to defy gravity through Cartier’s red box, which they have filled with a sense of joy, ” says Arnaud Carrez, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Cartier International.
Filmed over three locations Paris, Los Angeles, and Shanghai, the film is a contemporary ode to love, a universal and timeless love, shared with delight and generosity to the tune of the 1970s hit song performed by Roger Glover and Ronnie James Dio. Those of us Cartier fans also can’t help but think about the Cartier Love bracelet and everything it stands for. Incidentally, this iconic jewellery piece was also created in the 70s—by Aldo Cipullo who designed the Juste Un Clou as well.
To evoke a fresh, considered, and light-hearted vibe, Cartier engaged British director and fashion photographer Charlotte Wales to reflect those values most important to the maison. Primarily, that each person’s singularity is enriched by others’ and that these connections reinforce our talents. No maison is an island. Not even one as colossal as Cartier. Which is why it stands in open appreciation for the arts and culture across the globe, now and throughout its history.
So listen to the lyrics and jive to the beat. Everybody’s got to live together, as Dio sings (and the celebrities lip-synch.) Wrapping a warm and joyful message with a crisp and cheerful air, Love Is All will probably be the most fun and yet meaningful one-minute-and-45-seconds you’ll spent this festive season.
