For Burberry’s autumn/winter 2021 collection, Riccardo Tisci presented a 46-look collection centered around redefining the vocabulary of the Burberry woman—powerful, deeply feminine, and authentic.
Inspired by the British arts and crafts and naturalist movements of the turn of the 20th century, the collection was an homage to Mother Nature, punctuated with Tisci’s characteristic glamorous and athletic slant. Tops, skirts and dresses were draped effortlessly over the body, and featured asymmetric cuts and panels that moved beautifully and organically. Colour blocked garments looked as if they had been patched and sewn together, with octagram motifs reminiscent of child-like paper cut-outs. The tailoring was impeccably sharp as always, but softened with draped details and fringe trims, making for a refreshing reinterpretation of the hallmarks of Burberry.
In collaboration with Burberry, Vogue Singapore introduces the Vogue 10, a considered edit by fashion director Desmond Lim of the most coveted ready-to-wear pieces and bags from the brand’s autumn/winter 2021 collection. Featuring styling tips and commentary by Lim, here are his 10 highlights:

1 / 10
Flag print asymmetric dress, $4,190
“The iconic Union Jack print has been manipulated and spliced onto a graphic, asymmetric dress that sits beautifully on the body. Truly, wearing is believing,” says Lim. The impeccable fit—close to the body and tight in all the right places—lends a sensual elegance to the piece.
Styling tip: “Layer a long-sleeved mesh top underneath and throw on a baseball cap to transform the look into one that’s chic and sporty.”

2 / 10
Small crescent Lola bag, $1,650
The crescent-shaped Lola bag can be worn three ways: across the body, on the shoulder or carried as a clutch by removing the detachable bag strap. Finished in quilted lambskin, the softer silhouette of the bag lends a sportier edge to any outfit.

3 / 10
Exaggerated panel long-sleeve top, $1,750
Featuring romantic, waterfall sleeves, this versatile top can be easily dressed up or down for any occasion, depending on what you pair it with.
Styling tip: “For day, wear it under a slip dress for extra drama. Or, wear it on its own with a pair of high-waisted tuxedo pants for a night out.”

4 / 10
Geometric print slip dress, $2,690
“Inspired by period costumes from the early 1900s, this simple slip dress, with its childlike motif and graphic pattern, is set to add that extra swing to your step,” elaborates Lim. Layer it over the exaggerated panel long-sleeve top above for the perfect daytime look.

5 / 10
TB shoulder bag, $2,650
Structured shoulder bags have been all the rage for the past couple of seasons, and Burberry’s TB shoulder bag is no slouch in that department. Finished in smooth leather with an adjustable strap, the TB shoulder bag can also be transformed into a satchel, making it a bag for any occasion.

6 / 10
Tuxedo jacket with sash detail, $3,350
An elevated, feminine interpretation of classic British tails, this sharply tailored tuxedo jacket features a draped sash detail in the back, lending a sense of put-together ease to an otherwise formal silhouette.
Styling tip: “Pair this piece with bermuda shorts and ace the look with strappy sandals.”

7 / 10
Small quilted Lola bucket bag, $2,890
The Lola Bucket bag is one of two new iterations of Burberry’s Lola handbag for the autumn/winter 2021 season. Accented with the Thomas Burberry monogram, the bag comes in quilted leather with an adjustable chain strap. Available in 3 different sizes—small, medium and micro— wear it across the body during the day and carry it as a shoulder bag come evening by adjusting the chain strap.

8 / 10
Shirt with contrast topstitching and chain fringe, $3,690
“When you have a dozen shirts sitting in your wardrobe, the one that usually scores high in the style department is often the option with just the right amount of details,” muses Lim. With the cascading chain details on the breast pockets and cuffs, this black shirt with striking saffron yellow buttons is bound to make a statement, no matter how it is styled.
Styling tip: “Channel the ’90s spirit of cool insouciance by wearing it with a pair of high-waisted denim bottoms.”

9 / 10
Flag intarsia skirt, $2,690
“Go mod or go home. Bold graphic prints reminiscent of the ’60s are taking centre stage this season. This cute little number, with its interesting play on texture, is sure to add that pop of colour to your everyday wardrobe,” says Lim.
Styling tip: “Slip on a black knitted turtleneck and falsies and transform into a modern-day Twiggy.”

10 / 10
