In the beauty space, nothing spells transformation like a switch up of a do. Whether you’re embracing your fresh bob era or taking it up a notch with a bright swatch of colour, your hair’s probably the easiest, most obvious ground for experimentation. And going hand in hand with that—especially in recent years—comes the itch to transform our eyebrows. Take for instance: the fluffy and full ‘soap brows’ that can be achieved by brow lamination and those bleached brows that has been taking over our favourite celebrities’ mugs. So what else? Somewhere along the way, brow lightening emerged as a quiet contender.

I consider myself a rather ‘safe’ participant when it comes to beauty enhancements. And whilst I ogle at the bleached brow mania, it’s something that I find hard to take the plunge—in fear of it working against my facial features or skin tone. Brow lightening felt like something I could get behind, not at the the mercy of my own hands despite what TikTok at-home tutorials have fed me with, but with a professional carrying out the service.
Lash Inc Singapore, one of the beauty salons on our shores that carry the service, uses a professional-grade bleach that is expertly designed for precision. Its formula, while carrying a slightly pungent smell, is gentle on the brow hairs with minimal irritation. My therapist applied coat after coat, with each time revealing a subtle difference. The product is also well infused with keratin and a gentle moisturiser that protects your brow hairs during the bleach process. After about four rounds of bleaching, I could either keep going or stop the treatment based on how light I wanted my brows to be. Given that I was satisfied with the result, I chose the latter.

All in all, brow lightening is a controlled process that leaves a softer look to your entire mien. When it came to hair-brow combination, lightening my brows gave my bangs a slight edge and empowered me to even go lighter on the next round. Which I could do five weeks after my treatment, with the effects generally lasting as long as how fast your brow hairs grow out.
Fortunately (or unfortunately), this will probably be something that beauty fiends can get hooked on.
