The arrival of NFTs in the fashion world marked a new dawn of possibilities for designers and fashion houses around the world. For the uninitiated, an NFT (non-fungible token) is a blockchain token representing a unique digital item—think art, music, gaming assets, videos, and the list goes on.
Vogue Singapore’s exploration of the metaverse began well before we launched our September issue with digital-only covers that are also available as NFTs. In the past, we’ve broken down cryptocurrency terms in an easy-to-understand dictionary, consulted experts on why NFTs are relevant in the fashion world and plunged through the depths of the beauty metaverse.
In our September issue, we partnered with Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing for a Vogue Singapore-exclusive NFT garment, a ‘Flame Dress’ created in partnership with gaming and virtual commerce company for fashion, Altava.
The next step? Our own NFT collection with Ethereum-based platform OpenSea, of course. As the largest general marketplace for user-owned digital items, OpenSea supports multiple blockchains, enabling vibrant new economies that are fit for our new tech era.
New Beginnings: An NFT collection by Vogue Singapore
Inspired by our September global theme of ‘New Beginnings’, this limited NFT collection will be available on OpenSea from 10 November, 1pm UTC (10 November, 9pm SGT) to 13 November, 1am UTC (13 November, 9am SGT). Presenting our September covers ‘The RenaiXance Rising’ by The Fabricant x Shavonne Wong and ‘Triumphant Awakening’ by Chad Knight x Baëlf Design, alongside eight additional artworks from the fashion, beauty and art world by artists like Lanzavecchia + Wai and Dain Yoon, this is your chance to own a little piece of Vogue Singapore history.
“NFTs as collectibles and art are simply the perfect match. They are the future of how rare collectibles and art will be stored, which means it’s inevitable that fashion will have a strong foothold in the NFT market, similar to how the industry is a force in the already established art community today,” says Alexander Bercow, Partner Success Lead at OpenSea.
To Amber Slooten, co-founder and creative director of The Fabricant, the collaboration with Vogue Singapore could not have come at a better time. Marking it as a “new dawn for fashion”, she adds: “We are living through a new tech era that will radically transform our lives as we transition our existence into the virtual worlds of the metaverse. It’s an age The Fabricant has named The RenaiXance. Much like its original incarnation that took place 500 years ago, the RenaiXance is an era of radical social change that will create new economies and transform power structures, while enabling us to express our identity in ways that have never been seen before. Participating in an initiative where global creators can respond simultaneously in such a high-profile visual forum really brings to life the idea that our creative future is collaborative and innovative.”

Bercow looks forward to the partnership—and the new relationship between OpenSea and Vogue Singapore. “OpenSea is all in on the intersection of fashion and NFTs. Consider which spaces NFTs have been successful in—art and sports, among others. Those communities share the same characteristics: a culture of collectors, successful collector markets, and sustained subject matter passion over time. Fashion easily ticks those boxes, which is why we are so excited about our foray into the space,” says Bercow.
He adds, “Art is synonymous with NFTs. Vogue Singapore releasing a collection and auctioning its famous covers is thrilling not only for creators but for the NFT community at large, as a world-renowned name like Vogue helps establish what we’ve known for a while now: NFTs are branching out into new creative avenues that are here to stay.”
