First seen on the Versace fall/winter 2023 runway, the Greca Goddess top handle bag is the latest addition to an already expansive array of bags and accessories under the maison. The Greca Goddess is defined by the house’s Greca signifier, a classical Italian symbol that is often synonymous with infinity and unity. In Spanish history, it is also commonly associated with “eternal life”, an apt description to the timelessness and savoir faire of the bag.

Instantly recognisable from its highly-structural design, the semi-rounded curves of the bag boasts architectural influences. A sturdy base, broad body and arched top handle crafted in supple tubular leather all exude rugged elegance. The Greca logo in a matte, brushed gold sits on the front clasp of the bag, right about the signature Versace house logo. The bag is available in two sizes—a compact mini option and an everyday medium—as well as varying leather finishes, smooth or croc-embossed calfskin. Other details include a leather shoulder strap, several internal pockets, and a magnetic fold over closure.
For those who value versatility, the Greca Goddess bag offers a seamless transitional accessory that pairs with both daytime corporate wear or an elegant evening ensemble, and encapsulates the unparalleled craftsmanship that is present at the atelier. It is a celebration of construction and appreciation for all things luxury, which was the message Donatella Versace had for her latest collection.

Held at the dreamy Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, California, the fall/winter 2023 show saw the energy and prestige of Hollywood come together, in a melding of glamour from the Golden Age with the contemporary spirit of the house. In attendance that night were some of the entertainment industry’s most-esteemed, including the likes of new ambassador Dua Lipa, Anne Hathaway, Lil Nas X and Miley Cyrus. Old legends Elton John and Cher were also seated front row, in support of the close friend.
Dresses with structural busts, fluted necklines and rounded shoulders referenced archival silhouettes from the atelier’s famed spring/summer 1995 collection. From Gigi Hadid’s neatly tailored black skirt suit, to a reinvention of the denim tuxedo, there was an acute precision to the garments. Fabrics were reimagined, bespoke textiles crafted in collaboration with artisanal suppliers. Bouclé wool, silk devoré and crackle leather made clear that the devil was in the details.

The Greca Goddess was spotted on several of the models strutting down the runway, their gloved hands clasping the top handles while the divine sunset light reflected off the gold hardware. It painted a romantic and beguiling visual, the perfect way to wrap up the evening.
The Greca Goddess top handle bag is available to shop at Versace stores in Paragon Orchard or The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. For more information on the bag or the fall/winter 2023 collection, visit Versace’s office website here.
