Though much is unusual about this year’s Grammy Awards, awe-inspiring glam remains a constant. Sparkle and shine was practically a prerequisite for the artists’ outfits, and the best hair and make-up looks provided the perfect complement—or extended the idea—both on the red carpet, underneath the stage lights and in the comforts of their local viewing venues across the globe.
Winner of Best Pop Vocal Album, Dua Lipa matched her lilac crystal mesh Atelier Versace column dress with equally scintillating purple-pink eyeshadow and the sleekest tresses. Doja Cat got the grungy-glam treatment with a super smokey eye-and-mullet combination, while Jhené Aiko showed us multiple ways to wear waist-long braids with perfectly edged baby hairs and sky-high lashes. Now the most awarded female artist in Grammy history, queen Beyoncé graciously accepted her awards bedecked in a Schiaparelli leather dress and gloves accented with a gilded manicure (yes, on the outside), crowned by voluminous, golden curls. Then there was Megan Thee Stallion’s face-framing swirls that accented her piece-y updo, while H.E.R. channeled the ’70s with her middle-parted onyx waves and purple and gold eyeshadow. Phoebe Bridgers’ Thom Browne skeleton gown was made all the more striking by the deep plum hue on her pout.
Tuning in remotely, Cynthia Erivo glowed in a silver and gold ensemble that was only enhanced by her bleached brows, while Chloe Bailey of Chloe x Halle wore a half bantu-knot half curly ponytail.
The performances of the evening saw Billie Eilish take her signature green and black strands to the next level with a bejeweled headpiece, and Dua Lipa amplified the fuchsia eyeshadow for her ‘Levitating’ and Don’t Start Now’ medley, in a continuation of her ever-switching sequined flamingo-pink fashion. And, of course, Lizzo turned heads in her metallic Balmain look, topped off with big, bedazzled barrettes and holographic talons.
