An artist of varied influences, Myrne’s musical versatility shines through his writing credits, collaborations and remixes. His music—a combination of growing up in Singapore and a classical training background—is an intersection of pop, house and high-energy electronica. This unique outlook has garnered him an international audience of fans and artists, with support from the likes of Porter Robinson, The Chainsmokers and Martin Garrix. Myrne was the first Singaporean act to play for acclaimed dance festivals Ultra Miami and Tomorrowland in 2018. His debut album In Search of Solitude was released in 2019 to much critical acclaim, with the two-track EP Fluorescence and seven-track EP Wandering released the following year. My favourite songs to listen to are… Love Divide by Ross from Friends during the day and Immunity by Kasablanca at night. I feel that the time of day really changes how you perceive music. I categorise a lot of songs as ‘night’ or ‘day’ when I listen to them.
When I need a mood booster, I listen to… My Purple iPod Nano by jamesjamesjames and Emily by Tourist. These are vocal-less, slow tracks that I will devote a solid five minutes to listen to with my eyes closed.
My favourite party tracks are… Baxter (These are my friends) by Fred again.. featuring Baxter Dury, Want U There by salute, and My High by Disclosure featuring Amine and Slowthai.
My favourite song lyric is… “Nothing justifies our secret covers; forbidden lovers, forbidden lovers” from my 2020 single, Forbidden Lovers.
