Nobody does a press tour quite like Lady Gaga. No matter which project she’s making an appearance for, she always dresses perfectly for the theme. When she stepped into her new role as an A-lister for A Star Is Born in 2018, for instance, she completely embodied Old Hollywood fashion on the red carpet (including this unforgettable feathered dress by Valentino). For a recent jazz tour in Las Vegas, she pulled out the dramatic headpieces and showgirl-worthy sequin gowns. Essentially, if there is an assignment, Gaga will always understand it.
Gaga’s latest project is House of Gucci—the film in which she portrays Patrizia Reggiani, the Italian socialite (dubbed “the Black Widow”) who was convicted of hiring a hitman to kill her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci. On 9 November, the film had its official world premiere in London, and Gaga yet again proved she knows how to dress for the occasion. This time, her fashion MO is all about the two Gs: Gucci and Glamour. She wore a brand new Gucci look fresh off of last week’s Love Parade runway, opting for a voluminous purple gown from the collection, designed by Alessandro Michele. For a signature Gaga touch, she paired the dramatic gown with a pair of fishnet tights and sky-high shoes (she loves a death-defying heel, after all). On the red carpet, she had fun showing off the gown’s considerable yardage by tossing the sleeves and cape into the air, to great effect. Only Gaga can make a butterfly-like pose on the red carpet look natural.

Given that the film centres around the legacy of the house of Gucci, we predict many archival pieces from the Italian luxury label will be coming out to play on the red carpet. But for the very first premiere, it was only natural that Gaga should choose a fresh-off-the-runway piece. Her campy posing and undeniable star power only added to the glamorous look, as did her blinding jewels by Tiffany & Co. and matching purple eyeshadow. She wore the dress—not the other way around.
